Volunteering Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a volunteer?
You can apply to become a volunteer using this form or by emailing our volunteer coordinator heather@commonwheel.org.uk or phone 0141 211 0668.
What happens when I apply?
Once you have submitted the volunteer application form our Participation & Volunteering Coordinator will be in touch to arrange for you to come up and have an initial chat with them.
After this you will do a taster session to get a feel for the role before getting a full induction and training. We will also ask for references from 2 people who know you.
Most of our roles requires membership of the PVG scheme as you will be working with vulnerable adults. The process won’t cost you anything and we will assess each applicant on an individual basis.
How much time do I have to give as a volunteer?
The amount of time needed is different for each role and is often flexible. It could be one-off, short or longer term.
Can I reclaim my expenses?
All volunteers will be reimbursed for reasonable travelling expenses including travel between home and place of volunteering.
Will someone be supporting me?
The Participation & Volunteering Coordinator will be your main point of contact and will meet with you on a regular basis to provide support and guidance. You will also be supported by the coordinators for each project. You will get a full introduction and access to training.
